Muizenberg is famous in Cape Town for its long stretches of white sandy beaches, immortalised by Rudyard Kipling, and its trademark, brightly painted bathing boxes. Just a short walk or a five minute drive away, the beach, with its gentle slope down to the warm waters of the Indian ocean, is perfect for children of all ages, providing a safe environment for the younger and plenty of beach and sea sports for the older. But as with all major Cape Town beaches, lifeguards are on duty in designated areas. The rock pools too are guaranteed to offer great entertainment for youngsters who might find anything from Octopii to giant jellyfish.

Surfers couldn't dream of anything better on the doorstep. The surf offers a super long, slow beach-break that’s ideal for beginners and long boarders and even fun for short boarders on good days. Plenty of surf shops populate the beachfront where boards can be hired, equipment bought and tuition given for those just starting out. Very safe and lots of fun.
